Yeah, I Know.

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

So I edited episodes 5 and 6 at the same time, and had planned to release them a week apart.  Too busy to compulsively check Google Analytics and Feedburner, I thought this one had already been posted.  Oops.

Along with Episode 5, Episode 6 was screwed up by similar audio problems (hence the abrupt cut-off).  The “wind” noise was gone, but at roughly 30 minutes in, the audio turned to garbled crap.  I have since replaced hardware and upgraded software, and testing indicates that the problem is gone.  Good thing, too; 30-minute shows are way too listenable.

We never got to hear Alex talk about WordCamp, but it hasn’t hurt him.  The event sold out and more tickets had to be created.  Afternoon-only tickets are still available.

Given the continued delay, and in an effort to keep my co-hosts from getting too pissed at me, I’m instituting a new rule: shows will be edited and released the same night we record.  If I don’t have time to edit that night, we don’t record the show.  Expect many punctual yet poorly-edited podcasts in the near future.

Slight Delay

Friday, December 12th, 2008

We’re not taking a break or anything.  At least not on purpose.  We recorded an episode with special guest Devin Reams, but the audio sounded like someone set a mic out on a wooden deck behind a mountain cabin on a windy mid-autumn evening.  After doing some digging, the problem is my Snowball mic.  I’m working to filter out as much of the crap as possible, but that episode will be delayed.

Meanwhile, we’re working to schedule the next episode, and I promise to have it up and ready for ingestion in a timely fashion.

Download Errors

Monday, October 20th, 2008

We’re getting reports that Mevio, who we use for mp3 hosting for the show, is returning errors when anyone attempts to download.  This is probably a temporary problem, but if the files aren’t live again by the end of the day, we’ll find some other hosting service.  Because at LoDo Conversations, we place quality and service above all else.

Update from Dave: I bit the bullet and paid for hosting through libsyn.  Starting with Episode 3, everything should be working fine from now on.
